Sales is everything. It is something that I have a strong passion for and has been a large focus of my time. I have always sold within my own ventures but I have not had an opportunity to sell to a luxury market. However, I was able to organize a speaker series at Babson with one of the top sales forces in the luxury retail industry.

DFS recently came to visit Babson to discuss emerging opportunities within the fashion/luxury industry. Although a major component to retail is operational management, I was really intrigued with the sales process associated with high-end products. Their presentation expressed the importance of not only knowing the product (sales for dummies) but actually living the industry. Fashion and luxury goods are quite fickle – staying ahead of trends is the minimum requirement to succeed. This requires an unbelievable in-depth amount of product knowledge on the sales team’s behalf. Within Liquid Point Entertainment – my success is driven more on the quality of service rather the expansive product knowledge. However, there is a lot to learn from luxury retail’s attention to detail.
